These are a few of his favorite shows

So I always said I wouldn't let my children watch tv. Then I found Noggin (now Nick Jr) and my whole stance changed. There are so many educational shows on for kids Connor's age (without commercials) that I now allow him to watch shows in the morning. We watch them together, and we interact with them, helping him learn all sorts of things I wouldn't have thought to teach him at such a young age. For example, at 2 years old he can already tell you that a caterpillar goes into a cocoon called a chrysalis, then goes thru metamorphosis, and eventually turns into a beautiful butterfly. Now, anyone who knows me knows my love of butterflies, so this makes me one proud mamma. Of course, he didn't learn that all from tv, but the idea of metamorphosis did come from one of the shows, which made him ask me about it, and opened up the door for learning.
Of course there are shows that he loves just because they are fun, like Yo Gabba Gabba , but I figured it is still a great show to watch. Despite the fact that the creators must be on some serious drugs, and one of the main characters looks like a giant red French tickler, it still has some great messages. And it's fun for me to watch just to see who is going to show up for a guest "dancy dance" spot, or to see regulars like Biz Markie and Mark Mothersbaugh that bring me back to my old school days. There is also the Backyardigans that is too cool for words. They actually film the dancers, then convert them into CGI so when the characters dance, they are really technically correct. It's amazing how much cartoons have changed since we were kids! But of course we do have days where he watches some oldies but goodies like Sesame Street & The Electric Company. Cause who doesn't love Cookie Monster & Grover?
